Mostremos nuestro rechazo escribiendo directamente a:

FOR MR. TOM BALLANCE.
Mr. Ballance, as an American citizen of Cuban descent, I am appalled that your casino would lease to TUMI, a store that showcases a picture of Che Guevara. Che Guevara was an Argentinian assassin who hated Cubans and put as many Cubans in front of firing squads as he could. Ernesto Che Guevara, as this guerrilla was known, was also against the United States. He, and those around him, put an end to casinos, which is your interest, while he and other Communists around us, destroyed the Cuban nation, its people and sought to destroy the United States by way of a nuclear attack. Remember October 1962, and the Cuban missile crisis? Furthermore, Borgata is a place of refinement, of people enjoying themselves. Your enterprise would stand to miserably lose if people as Ernesto Che Guevara were ever able to take a hold of your interests in the manner that this guerrilla took over and destroyed whatever came into his sphere of influence in Cuba. TUMI, should know better, but since they don’t, I write to you to personally request that this assassin’s picture be removed from their store, on your property. There are many Cuban Americans who are watching what takes place in your casino. We have always felt safe there. I, personally, am a legal certified 9/11 survivor. I cannot feel safe nor welcome in a place where a terrorist as Che Guevara is openly displayed as quite a character, and wonder how you or anyone would feel if any company, casino, enterprise would use the picture of the terrorist, Mohammed Atta, of deplorable 9/11 fame, to showcase a visit to his native country or as a display of what is laudable in the region of his birth. Ideas and pictures, Mr. Ballance, do have consequences, and if we enjoy our freedoms, and I am exercising my freedom; however, hate speech, and an image of hate which is what Che Guevara represents, has no place in my opinion anywhere in the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa enterprise.
Sincerely,
Carmen Maria Rodriguez

REPLYI am very sorry that you were unhappy upon hearing about the video that plays at TUMI. After speaking with the Regional Manager for Marshall Retail Group, the managers of TUMI, she informed me that the advertising video was actually filmed in Cuba, and the image appears in the background on a wall near where the filming was taking place. This image is displayed for less than five seconds of the 58 second video. I do understand your feelings regarding this matter and can assure you that your feedback has been taken into consideration. The company often updates their marketing videos, and there will be a new one in place on May 17. I apologize again for any disappointment.
